Measurement of contact angle and surface free energy for quality assurance

The standard configuration of our DSA30 is designed for the semi-automatic measurement of contact angle, including dynamic contact angle measurements, and the determination of surface free energy. The instrument is ideal for the reliable quality assurance of surface pre-treatment processes as well as wetting and coating procedures.

The instrument is equipped with finely adjustable, manual movement axes for the three spatial directions. These enable the measuring positions to be adjusted accurately and without contact, even with larger samples. Our software-controlled dosing unit enables the drop volume and the dosing dynamics to be accurately regulated. This enables the contact angle measuring conditions to be accurately reproduced. Our DSA30S also enables the advancing and receding angles to be measured. This averages out local inhomogeneities in the sample and enables the roughness of the solid to be assessed.

Our software for the DSA30S can start the measurement process automatically and directly after dosing, so that raw data can be recorded immediately without losing any time. The quickly and easily replaceable syringe allows a rapid changeover between different liquids, and thus enables the instrument to achieve a high sample throughput. In addition, programmed, semi-automatic measuring sequences provide rapid and precise measurements of the surface free energy from the contact angle data of several test liquids.

We provide extensive upgrade options for the DSA30S, for example to unit configuration E with software-controlled multiple dosing and sample table movement.
