ADVANCE is an example of how even the most complex measuring tasks, such as determining the surface free energy (SFE) of a solid, can be represented on a clear and easy to use interface. With just a few intuitive editing steps you can prepare software-controlled contact angle measurements utilizing every degree of automation up to complete SFE measurement, position mapping, or tilting experiments. Using our Liquid Needle dosing technique, ADVANCE even accesses the SFE of a surface within just one second.

When it comes to drop shape analysis, one of the main benefits of working with ADVANCE lies in its very robust fitting algorithm. The software is capable of detecting the drop shape and the interface between drop and surface (baseline) even in the face of severe interference, which can be caused by extraneous light or shadows, for example.

With a large variety of fitting methods for shape analysis, all of the important models for calculating SFE and procedures for surface and interfacial tension, ADVANCE matches even the highest scientific standards. Features such as automatic background video recording for subsequent evaluation or quick access and reanalysis of drop shape images make ADVANCE the most sophisticated tool for all tasks in contact angle measurement.

      Measure the SFE with one click within a second

      SFE determination used to be time-consuming, having to dose drops of at least two liquids, to measure their contact angles and then to calculate the SFE. Not anymore! ADVANCE carries out all these steps fully automatically within just one second, using our patented Liquid Needle dosing technology. After a push of a button, drops of two liquids are dosed and recorded in parallel, followed by precise image analysis and automated SFE calculation.

      Capture every important moment with automatic background recording

      Get the maximum of information from a wetting process without having to start a measurement at the right time. The ADVANCE background recording automatically saves everything that happens in a wide time range. After pausing the recording, you can go back in time to analyze the interesting part of the background video. It is also possible to synchronize the time line with the contact between a drop and the surface or any other event. This makes examination of time-dependent wetting behavior very fast and easy. 

      Accessing and reanalyzing drop shape images very quickly

      ADVANCE makes it very easy to access the drop's image for each result – just pick it in the result list or graph. The fitting method used to determine the contact angle can be changed very quickly for each item or even the complete list of results. This is of great help, particularly when the contact angle range of a sample is unknown before the measurement and the optimal fitting method needs to be selected subsequently.
