Dr. Prashant R. Waghmare

"The partnership between iSSELab and KRÜSS at the University of Alberta has led to the establishment of a consortium for researchers from different background in the area of interfacial sciences. This facility, the first of its kind, valued over one million dollars, was established in December 2015 in collaboration with KRÜSS and interfacial Science and Surface Engineering Lab (iSSELab) located at National Institute for Nanotechnology (NINT). Apart from energy, paper & pulp, and brewery industries, the SSH–CT at the University of Alberta is developing a knowledge-base, research, and innovation in addition to the training of more than fifteen HQPs. The generous support from KRÜSS allowed us to secure all necessary infrastructure needed to establish the SSH–CT, which is worth of more than ~$1.3M. This unique facility has different instruments with the ability to perform most of the measurements required to quantify liquid-fluid and liquid-solid interface properties at given pressure and temperature"

Background of Dr. Waghmare

Prashant Waghamare is Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta. He holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Pune and a M.Tech. in Thermal and Fluids Engineering with gold medal from the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere. He worked as Research Associate for Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai and as project staff in the Center for Research in Nanotechnology & Science of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

During his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta, he was bestowed with the Alberta Ingenuity Scholarship for Nanotechnology, currently known as Alberta Innovates Technology Futures, the R. R. Gilpin Scholarship, the J. Gordon Kaplan Graduate Student Award and the Dean’s special award from University of Alberta.
