Spinning Drop Tensiometer – SDT for low interfacial tensions for optimizing emulsions

Confirm the precision of your interfacial tension results

New standard for calibrating drop diameter determination with Spinning Drop Tensiometer – SDT

The Spinning Drop Tensiometer – SDT measures the interfacial tension (IFT) in a particularly wide range of values. The accuracy of the measurement depends above all on the precise determination of the droplet diameter, as this is included in the calculation of the IFT with the third power in the spinning drop method. You can now assess the quality of the results and estimate the measurement uncertainty with our new CP1611C standard for calibrating the diameter determination.

The standard consists of a high-precision cylindrical piston whose diameter accuracy is confirmed by an attached certificate from an independent testing laboratory. The calibration is performed under the same conditions as a real measurement, including scale determination with the reference cone of the SDT, filling with a surrounding liquid, and rotation. Thus, the calibration realistically reflects the actual uncertainty of a measurement result.

You can now order the CP1611C standard from us and calibrate the diameter determination as part of your regular quality routines. Alternatively, our Technical Support will be pleased to take over this task for you and carry out the calibration annually as part of a maintenance contract. Our service engineer will also calibrate the accuracy of the rotational speed, which is also included in the IFT calculation, at your premises, and ensure long-term reliability of your SDT with many other measures.
