Part-time Lab Technician (m/f/d)

This position is responsible for performing lab sample analysis in a surface science laboratory, writing reports and other lab related tasks to support KRÜSS USA’s feasibility and contract lab services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analyze samples in support of sales feasibility studies or contract lab samples.  Document analysis results in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all privileged customer information associated with projects
  • Keep lab instruments in good working order
  • Adhere to all company and departmental processes, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to work 24 to 29 hours per week.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Completed at least 2 years tertiary education with a scientific or engineering focus. A BS in a Scientific discipline such as; Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Physics or complementary work experience in surface science is preferred.
  • Capacity to learn scientific principles, operate associated instruments and software.
  • Possess technical and mechanical aptitudes and great attention to details.
  • Possess methodical, thorough and meticulous work habits, organized, reliable and self-motivated.
  • Ability to prioritize activities and must possess good time management skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to offer ideas and make suggestions; work in a team environment as well as working alone to solve problems.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds. This is required to lift modules on or off laboratory benches.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standards, patents, confidentiality agreements, non-disclosure agreements, technical papers, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. This includes the ability to write coherent and routine correspondence; the ability to troubleshoot problems via phone or email; the ability to interact well with others, both internal and external to the company.

Mathematical Skills

Must be familiar with statistics and similar mathematics functions.

Reasoning Ability

Must be able to work through complex problems in a logical fashion.
